Insanity?

Hummmmmmmmmm. I've been thinking...
I wonder if I have the self discipline to not let one piece of Halloween candy or any candy
for that matter pass my lips for one month. OCTOBER.
I guess I won't know until I make the commitment and if I do fail, it will just prove that I am a spineless wonder as Gary suggested when I roll my bike down the steep hills in cross instead of riding down them. :-) not
tough enough.
Who wants to jump on? Maybe Danielle can set up a spreadsheet and we would have mark each day with a choice obscenity or turrets style outburst to relieve the stress of having it in our FACE 24/7 for the next 38 days.
Launch day would be Oct 1st so you would be allowed to gouge your pie hole with as many Twizzlers, Starbursts or ehumm... Tooties Rolls Kate.... that your body will digest and your pancreas could handle without using up your insulin stores..

I need to download my video of Julie Lockhart, national champ in her age group, sliding down the short wet hill in Amesbury on her butt. Priceless.

Nothing wrong with running versus riding. All about getting to the finish line the fastest possible. If running does it, then let 'er rip.

Are M&Ms exempt? Oh, wait, I ate 3 lbs this past week, so I think I can STOP for October. Danielle....YES! She is the queen. Ok, I am in. Holy crap...this will be hard for me, but I am always better w/ a challenge, but did you HAVE to pick October & Halloween? :)

Shoot.. Can I have one day off? October 12? I am in except for October 12. Although those candy corns are looking damn good. At easter I froze all the mini cadbury eggs I could find until after IM AZ. It's all about proper freezing..

Oh...I am so glad that I don't like candy. (I mean I like to look at it on your blog!) I have to confess that I LOVE baked goods in any form...pastry, pie, donuts, cake, cookies... So yes, let's put together a challenge and mine will be cake and you all's can be candies...and I think that everyone should get a "bonus" day, especially if they are doing a big race.

Saturday November 1st all bets are off, right? Well, for this girl, I'll have to wait to cross the IMFL finish line before indulging but then bring on those halloween trick or treat bags (and maybe an IV or two)! It's a great challenge...made all the harder for the picture of the candy corn at the top of your blog.

I am so totally in. Candy - wow... gulp. Okay. But like Danielle, I also like pastry-thingies. But this will be a great challenge - so yes yes yes!

Um, and anyone doing a big race gets to have a free day the day after. :)

Bring it on!

Agreed.. Rach can have her day of celebration of another age group win in Kona with a day of candy...
THAT's it MISSY! :-)

Yes Jen, October is the WORST month but I swear, the pound packing starts in October, marches into the holidays and rolls into the icky winter cycle and my ass grows wider until spring because of the October candy overload that starts the process.

Where the hell is Kerrie? Hiding?? Step up chicka....

ooh ooh! this is so perfect! nice timing!! I've gone candy crazy lately and have all kinds of GI & hypoglycemia problems currently from too much dipping in the sugar jar. Restraint has deemed itself dead! I'm so in. Cleaning it up for Clearwater and this will give me the motivation to stomp on temptation! (I've been eyeing the 100 Grand bars ravenously) thanks!

Ok...good. How are we accountable and keeping track of all of this craziness?
I can do this...but I like all the pastry stuff too - scones, cookies...all homemade though...CANDY is good for me b/c of my M&M problem.

Why...I've volunteered Danielle to make a spread sheet like she did for the swim stuff so we can all make comments in there..!!! How bout it D????? Or at least tell me what to do. :-(

I don't know how to and you are sooooo good with that stuff! :-)

I'll just give you my blogger pass word to access my bloggy blog and you can do the linkage stuff like for the swim stuff?????

As far as being accountable:
HTFU and don't cheat.(lol) If you do have a *moment* consume it, cry and then post your sin.

i am SO in.

i am trying to take off a couple [ahem 7+] unwanted elbees. i was just saying to my boyfriend today that i was DYING for a reese's peanut butter cup ... mind you i haven't had one in i don't know how long, but because i know i'm trying to eat more cleanly ... i wanted it that much more.

screw it, i need the accountability ... and the spread sheet to rant on. count me in.

OK, here is the URL: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pMq1m5azPapPiB_TbBoU_XQ

Scroll down and to the left to where you can click on "Edit" and anyone who wants to join should be able to fill in their name. I think this should work.

You're absolutely right, it all starts with Halloween and then trickles over to Thanksgiving, which of course carries over to Christmas and New Year's eve. Hmmm, I have to think about joining the challenge. I'm afraid I might go on a huge binge if I deny myself all chocolate for a whole month, but I LOVE the idea and the support!

Thanks for the good luck wish. I hope you are well! I dont think i could go a whole month without candy. Kudos to you if you make it!!

This is just wrong. No candy in October is like.....I don't know. It's just wrong. What about candy corn! What about caramel apples! What about PEANUT BUTTER CUPS!?

Can a yogi of Mary's join the "insanity"? I would truly benefit from being candy-free in October!
