Quick Race Report

getting ready to chuck my empty Gu flask at Mr. TGP, shufflin' by with 2 cups of ice cubes down my swimsuit..lol




The Good news:
My hip tear didn't bother me at all on the run!
The Bad news: I got my ass handed to me on the run!

The combination of my lack of run fitness coupled with the heat made the run complete misery for me. I never found a good groove. I suffered every mile. 8 women in my age group swiftly caught me and left me practically standing still during my 9 minute mile 13.1 shuffle. Last year I did a 5:07 on this course so yesterday's 5:18 was a true test of where my fitness was. I've decided to pull out of CdA. All I could think of during the run yesterday was, how am I going to make it though 26.2 miles??? After a discussion with Coach Jen, my run fitness isn't going to change much in the time I have to prepare and I'm not willing to go there to shuffle through the marathon.

Off to enjoy my last day in sunny Florida and figure out plan B!! Thanks for all of your support. I tried really hard as to not disappoint especially myself!!!


Oh.. almost forgot.... I ran SMACK into Kate Weaver J. after the race. It was so nice to meet her in person! I had no idea she was racing and saw her family cheering during the run wearing TEAM KATE MONSTER t-shirts. Also big big shout out to team mate and super BAD ASS chicka chicka Dede for clenching 3rd yesterday!!!! She had some serious competition and is really proving that she is a force to be reckoned with out there on the race course.

It was so awesome to meet you!! The conditions were brutal yesterday. Believe me, pulling out of IM Louisville was all I was thinking about on the run!

You went, you raced, you finished - BE PROUD! And what the heck is this:

I tried really hard as to not disappoint especially myself!!!

If you gave it your best, you should look at it as an accomplishment (easy for me to say after my abysmal race on Saturday).

I'm proud of you - you ROCK!

What???? I was cheering LOUD for you...I think you did GREAT...think of all the injuries you have faced and all the SHIT weather you had to deal with during prime training....these are not excuses but facts....You finished, so be proud...and you look so sassy in that pink Splish and you know that is truly what it is all about is LOOKING GOOD...you nailed it :) Ha!! HUGS!!

You did great! You are strong to deal with those brutal conditions. Congrats! Sorry that we will miss each other at CdA. Bummer, but maybe at another race soon.....

you look smokin' in that suit- i never look that good in the middle of a race! way to tough that run out - a very SOLID day!!!! it was hoooottttttt out there. give it another couple days before you make your final decision on CdA, you may change your mind yet. if you decide that you truly don't want to do CdA, i want to hear about plan B!

Probably a good decision. A marathon is a lonely thing to walk when you have built higher expectations. Focus on getting better, enjoy the bike and swim fitness you have, and get ready to roll in the later season (including cross for the fall).

And go design some new swimsuits or something cathartic.

Hey, it takes courage to say no to a race you were looking forward too, sorry to hear about that BUT I am stoked your run injury didn't flare up on you!

Okay, back to the drawing board, what's next?! Let's get you signed up for something else so you have a goal to chase!

I think you look amazing in that picture.... despite how you were probably feeling! :) I'm sorry things didn't go as you had planned, but a 5:18 for a "not so desired finish" is still pretty darn good! Keep it up, you'll get it to where you want to be before you know it!

First - WAY TO FINISH! Having an injury, being sidelined from training is NOT easy, is NOT fun. But you hung in there, gave it your all - and in spite of getting passed - YOU DID NOT QUIT! I truly believe that it is much more difficult to hang in there after getting passed - you are SO MENTALLY TOUGH! This will ALL work out in the end!

Sorry to read about IM CDA! My heart goes out to you... I know what it's like. :) BUT, we WILL have our IMs at some point. I promise! :) Enjoy the Peanut M&Ms and recovery time!
